Who is behind this craziness?
My name is Maite Sastre and I am the author, photographer and recipe developer on this page. I define myself as a discoverer of new projects, and I’m always up for an adventure.
I live in Mallorca (Spain) and I love everything about the island, especially our Mediterranean cusine. I love observe the rainy days in pajama from my window, but I also like discover new places and cultures (even when it rains!).
How did the idea of creating my own cooking blog?
Now that no one sees us, I’ll tell you a secret: I’ve always been passionate about cooking for the opportunity it gives you to voice your emotions when different ingredients are combined, so when Juanma (my husband) and I started to live together, I found the opportunity to try new recipes. Have you ever felt this way? If your answer is yes, you know how much emotion I felt at that time.
But shortly after I bumped into a problem, ok with two: how in the heck I’m going to remember all the recipes I’ve been improvising? And, most important, how do I get that our friends no longer to appear in our house unexpectedly for lunch, dinner or a snack with the excuse that they just can’t cook?
I was thinking about it for a long time, until my desire to learn and share my knowledge talked for me (ok, also helped to have a husband that work as a computer programmer …), and this is the result! A cooking blog for people like you, who want to try new foods without disregarding the classical recipes and, above all, want to eat well without spending more money than necessary.
As you can see, cooking is my passion, but not the only one. I studied social work, because like the kitchen, social work is a way to share with the others. Social work is a lifestyle.
